Mombasa, Diani and South Coast

Long, white sandy beaches framed with palm trees line the south coast, no wonder it is regarded as such a popular beach destination.

Long stretches of beautiful, white sandy beaches overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Mombasa’s strategic location on the Indian Ocean made it an important trading centre and one of the earliest Swahili city states dating back to 1100 AD. Roughly 35 km south of Mombasa, you will reach Diani Beach. Voted as having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, it is where silky white sands meet warm turquoise waters and palm-lined streets dot the area.

Long stretches of beautiful, white sandy beaches overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Today Mombasa is a tourism hub and one of the most popular destinations in Kenya due to its easy access and affordable hotels and experiences. The Moi International Airport has local and international flights flying the route and for those preferring to drive it is just over eight hours from Nairobi or there are several public transport options.

Diani Beach has been awarded the best beach destination in Africa for five years running, and it's easy to see why. This south coast beach is surrounded by the warm Indian Ocean, with countless beach resorts to accommodate you during your stay.

information

Mombasa is a melting pot of languages and cultures from all sides of the Indian Ocean. Mombasa's blend of India, Arabia and Africa is uniquely enchanting, and many visitors find themselves falling for East Africa's biggest and most cosmopolitan port city. Diani Beach is everything that comes to mind when you think of a tropical paradise, rolling white sands perfect for sunbathing, crystal clear waters perfect for snorkelling, and an abundance of wildlife to discover.

Msambweni is the ideal destination for travellers who want to switch off from the world in a stunning piece of quiet coast line. You can walk long stretches on the beach or just swim, lounge or read in the privacy of your accommodation. Snorkelling on the reef is possible, but if you are seriously interested in underwater (also for scuba diving) a day trip to the Kisite Marine Park near Shimoni is a must.
